Guilty Pleasure: Boy Band

Most girls have their boy band phase when they're young, like in their tweens. Not me. I didn't really care for NKOTB and only owned their Christmas CD and a set of twin sheets. I don't  even remember asking for them, I think my mom just got it for me. I didn't truly hit my boy band stride until my late teens/early 20's with the emergence of the Backstreet Boys and *Nsync.
Although I liked both I was definitely an *Nsync girl. Lance was my favorite because apparently I had a think for blonde, spiky haired, obviously gay boys. The highlight of my *Nsync fandom was when I won front row tickets from 101.3 KDWB to their No Strings Attached concert. Granted, I already paid up the wazoo for 22nd row seat but hey, UPGRADE! When they said I was the 13th caller I reverted back to a 16 year old and screamed and jumped up and down. I'm sure my neighbors downstairs were thrilled. I gave my 22nd row ticket to a friend's daughter and enjoyed myself in the front row, so close that I could see the sweat dripping from Justin's brow. (I'm totally kicking myself for forgetting my Kodak disposable camera, btw)

I had all their CD's (and would buy any reunion CD's stat) and while I didn't go so far as to buy the marionette dolls I did have (still have) all the Rolling Stones magazines with all the members of the band on the cover. They'll totally be worth money one day...right?

To this day I still love *Nsync. Maybe it's a nostalgia thing, a reminder of my carefree early 20's but more than likely it's just because I like the music. (I've always loved dance/pop music) I have an *Nsync station on Pandora that gets played on a regular basis at home, at the gym, and in the studio. There's a reason a like to work in the studio alone-so I can sing and shake my booty while I'm working and not either embarrass the hell out of myself or weird people out, lol.

What is your musical guilty pleasure?

Oh hon... I liked *Nsync and BSB. I enjoy One Direction. But I love love LOVE NKOTB! Guess how excited I am that they have a new album coming out in April? And how much I'm hoping against hope that they come back to my area again on tour(they're touring with 98* and Boyz to Men) ? I've seen them three times (once as a teen, and twice as a grown up married lady).

I embrace the geeky-fan-girl part of me. Gladly!

I think I'm too old to have gone through the boy bands phase. My first show was Platinum Blonde in Grade 8 and then The Cult a year or two later. They were both bands made up of boys (as most bands are). Does that count? I was just telling my husband yesterday that I admire Prince because he employs women in his band. You were lucky to get front row seats. I have never had those! I used to stand just back of the mosh pit if it was a standing concert though. Lots of good times!

I guess it's not so much a "guilty" pleasure as just simply a pleasure :)
