Our cat Oliver isn't doing so well and has been staying at our vet's office overnight since Wednesday. On Monday I noticed he wasn't himself and took him in. He had a fever so they gave him a couple of shots and some antibiotics for us to give him. I brought him home that day but didn't notice any improvement so I brought him in again on Wednesday and they admitted him.

One thing they thought he might have was feline leukemia. The chances were low since he's an indoor cat and had been tested before he left the humane society, but I told them to test him for it because I kept thinking about the possibility and it was stressing me out. This is all bringing back memories of our awesome kitty Charlie who died very unexpectedly the day after Christmas in 2007.  His death was so traumatic that 5 years later if I think about it or talk about it too long I'll still cry. Thankfully that test came back negative. I visited him yesterday and he seemed slightly perked up but not by much.

The vet called this morning to give me another update. Although his temperature is slowly going down it's still a little high, just over 103. He still isn't eating either. They gave him a cortisone shot to see if that would perk him up but they may test him for Feline Infectious Peritonitis or see if he has some other kind immune disorder. This is not promising for a long kitty life either so I am hoping so much that this is not the case Again, the chances are low since he's been immunized several times, just not recently. Guess I kind of forgot about all that immunization stuff after I got knocked up. Shit. I hope that doesn't come back to bite me in the ass...

I am hoping that it's just the vet's original diagnosis of "Fever of Unknown Origin" and he just needs some extra TLC. I'll know more this afternoon. I am not ready to lose another super awesome kitty.

What a great mom you are to your kitty. I hope he feels better soon. I know how worrying it can be. We lost our little kitty a few years back at the age of 14 and I still miss her.
