I am officially on a 6 week hiatus from Target which started on Thursday. I was going pretty strong as far as making work for Woodland then I was given more hours at work. Great for helping to pay for all things art fair related, not so great for actually making work. I do feel bad that I am leaving at such a busy time (my store is categorized as "super freaky" for the back to school/back to college season) but I am grateful that Target allows me the freedom to take the time off to pursue my art. I am also super thankful for the rapid rate at which my vacation now accrues (a benefit of being with the company for 15 years) and that I have a ton stored up so I'll be getting paid the whole time. Win! Woodland is less than a month away now. Holy. Crap. I have taken care of most of the things not in-the-studio related. My booth has arrived, I have a tent, U-Haul is reserved, and I finally got in touch with a tax lawyer who is helping me with all the confusing (to me) business set-up stuff. I still need to order signing and of course, make a bunch more stuff. I had set a goal as far as how many pieces to make but everyone I talk to is all like, oh my gosh, make sure you have a TON of stuff, you'll need it!! I am happy that Woodland has such a good reputation and that people seem to have so much faith in my work but now I am like, Oh shiiiiiitttt. What if I don't have enough stuffff???? So yes. I'll be busy for the next month but I am SO excited!!
